ARPA-E detail: $4.7 million Codexis biocatalysts for power plant CO2
In California, Codexis announced that the company has been selected to receive up to a $4.7 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy for development of biocatalysts for more efficient carbon capture from coal-fired power plants, in collaboration with CO2 Solution of Quebec City, Canada. The technology is based on customized carbonic anhydrase biocatalysts that have the potential to enable cost effective, energy efficient capture of carbon dioxide.
Codexis has commercialized its biocatalysts in the pharmaceutical industry, is developing biocatalysts for use in producing advanced biofuels, and is also using its technology platform to pursue biocatalyst-enabled solutions in carbon management, water treatment and chemicals.
