More than 50 groups express support for Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels after EBB, eBIO walkout

In Switzerland, more than 50 organizations expressed support for the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels after support letters were circulated following the withdrawal of the European Biodiesel Board and eBIO from the organization.

“We wish to express our continued support to the Roundtable on Sustainable Biofuels (RSB) Secretariat for the multi-stakeholder process currently underway to develop a robust, usable meta-standard, and implementation system for biofuel sustainability,” began one letter from members of the Sustainable Aviation Fuel Users Group, including Air France / KLM Airbus Alaska Airlines All Nippon Airways (ANA) British Airways, Cargolux, Etihad Airways, GOL, Gulf Air, Honeywell-UOP, IATA-International Air Transport Association, JAL, Lufthansa, SAS, TAM, The Boeing Company, TUIfly / TUI Airlines, Virgin Atlantic Airways.

An additional letter was signed by Addax Bioenergy, Amigos da Terra, Amazônia Brasileira, the Applied Environmental Research Foundation, the Associated Labour Unions‐Trade Union Congress of the Philippines,  Bio‐Partners, Biogreen Oil, Biojet Corporation, Cosmo Biofuels, Fundacion Solar, Greenergy International, the National Center for Appropriate Technology, the National Soybean Board, the National Wildlife Federation, the Natural Resources Defense Council, Neste Oil, Oeko Institute, Pace Energy & Climate Center, Pangea, Shell International Petroleum, the Sierra Club, the Sustainable Biodiesel Alliance,  The Energy Research Institute, the Union for Conservation of Nature, the National Union of Plantation and Agricultural Workers Uganda, the Trowel Development Foundation, UNCTAD UNEP, the United Nations Foundation, Verno Systems, and WWF International among others.

Also notable was the absence of a large contingent of support from the RSB’s Chamber 2, biofuels producers.
