Inhofe to introduce bill giving states opt-out from ethanol
In Washington, Senator James Inhofe of Oklahoma said that he will introduce legislation next week to allow states to allow pure gasoline to be sold in their states, and thereby opt out of federal regulation of ethanol and gasoline levels imposed by the EPA under the Renewable Fuel Standard.
An aide to the Senator told The Hill that bipartisan support is seen from the bill from a combination of oil patch conservatives and liberal environmentalists opposed to ethanol mandates. Inhofe expressed optimism over the fate of the measure, which would likely draw opposition from corn patch Senators across party lines.
