Agrivida's BIO presentation showcased features of their proprietary proteins

| July 6, 2010

In Washington, Agrivida’s BIO presentation June 29 provided details of their proprietary proteins, genetically engineered into the cell walls of waste corn stover and “energy crops” such as sorghum and switchgrass, to increase cell wall degradation. Agrivida’s engineered enzymes in the cell walls of the crops improved biofuels processing characteristics, dramatically decreased external enzyme loadings, while still protecting the plants’ development and growth. Michael Raab, Ph.D., President of Agrivida, said this suggests that cellulosic ethanol production can be greatly expanded at lower costs and with fewer emissions, chemicals, and other downstream requirements.
