Algal and microcrop fuels: Most-Read Stories of the Year #5

July 26, 2010 |

Among stories about specific feedstocks and fuels, nothing attracted the Digest readers’ attention this past year like a good algae story. Biggest among them was “Biggie Smalls: Microcrops go mainstream and head for the Big Time” which appeared last August.

But “Algae’s Baby Bloomers” from February and “Here I am to Save the Day: Microalgae gains momentum with a mighty March” proved hugely popular in recent months.

“Bad news” algae stories also drew high readership, including “Algal Biofuels worse than Corn on GHGs,” reporting on an opportunistic study critical of algae’s resource footprint, and “Banned in Boston” which unfolded Massachusetts’ plans to ban algal-based fuels from counting towards the state’s biofuels mandate.
