Biofuels growth slashed in EU: free report download

In Belgium, EurObserv’ER’s latest Biofuels Barometer report shows that growth in biofuel consumption has slowed significantly, with biofuel use in transport only growing by 18.7% between 2008 and 2009, against 30.3% between 2007 and 2008 and 41.8% between 2006 and 2007.

In 2009, roughly 4% of the EU’s transport fuel use was biofuels—or 12 MTOE. Growth in ethanol fuel consumption was steadier (up 31.9% between 2008 and 2009) than that of biodiesel (up 19.9% between 2008 and 2009).
