Weiser Energy Partners negotiating with NC town for renewable diesel plant

September 20, 2010 |

In North Carolina, Weiser Energy Partners is in discussions with city and county officials in Fayetteville for the construction of the company’s first commercial renewable diesel plant using wood waste and waste cooking oil as feedstocks.

The 1.5 Mgy facility is said to be on the “fast track” for state and local permits and the company hopes construction can start by the end of the year but a specific location has not yet been identified. The company plans to use the county’s landfill operations that bury construction and demolition debris and churn yard waste and pine needles into mulch but the county already sells much of that yard waste to Craven County Wood Energy, a partnership that uses waste to produce electricity.
