Alchem ethanol plant in North Dakota heads for auction block

September 24, 2010 |

In North Dakota, Steffes Auctioneers are putting the former Alchem ethanol plant in Grafton up for sale.  Built in the mid 1980’s, the plant is list at 9.5 MGy capacity and has used potatoes, wheat and corn for feedstock.  The DDGs produced by the plant were mostly sold to Canadian beef producers.

The plant suffered a partial building collapse during the 2009/2010 snow season.  During operations, there was apparently a waste water issue, but there is a back up lagoon system that is part of the auction of the facility.  The facility will be auctioned off as is on September 29, and personal property items will be auctioned on September 30th.

More on the story.
