Vietnam sets 2015, 2025 biofuels goals, will introduce incentives

In Vietnam, the government has intensified efforts to promote biofuel production under its biofuel development plan for 2015 and 2025. According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Energy, the country is focusing on several different feedstocks for both ethanol and biodiesel including cassava, coconut, sesame, peanut, flax and jatropha, and from animal products such as catfish fat.

The government will offer incentives for the production and use of biofuel, and plans to produce 1.8 million tons of ethanol and vegetable oil to meet 5 percent of domestic gasoline and diesel demand over the next 15 years.
