South Africa looks at biofuels as rolling blackouts, diesel shortage looms

In South Africa, the country is expecting to suffer from rolling blackouts again next year due to energy deficits and local energy services company MaNoa is suggesting that companies consider using solar-powered batteries or biofuel-powered generators.

Diesel-operated generators are a common site throughout Africa because of ongoing energy insecurity, but the company says that despite higher capital costs now that there won’t be enough diesel for everyone and should therefore look at switching to biofuels.
