EIA pegs 2011 cellulosic ethanol production at 3.9 million gallons

That’s far below the 17.1 million gallons proposed in October as the quota for cellulosic biofuels under the RFS2 and only a tiny fraction of the 250 million gallons estimated in the 2007 RFS.

The EIA estimates that only half of the cellulosic biofuel producers it has on record will produce next year.
