UK farmers say red tape choking sustainable biofuels

In the UK, the National Farmers Union is sticking up for grain farmers who claim that grain suppliers for biofuels production are imposing too much red tape in order to comply with sustainability criteria.

UK merchants have presented farmers will paperwork relating to the German RedCert scheme with the belief that that is required in order to meet the Renewable Energy Directive’s criteria, but farmers already audited under the Red Tractor scheme should in theory already qualify.
