India's Mangalore state readies biofuels masterplan

In India, the Mangalore state taskforce is developing a biofuel masterplan to utilize all the available biomass for biofuel production including cashew apples, jackfruit and sardine oil. Approximately 40,000 tonnes of cashew apples is wasted in the region per year, which can very well be used for producing 15,000 to 16,000 ton of bio ethanol in addition to up to 60,000 tons of sardine oil that is currently being shipped un-processed to the EU.
