Gore regrets his support for corn ethanol

In Greece, former US Vice President Al Gore has said that supporting first generation corn ethanol was a mistake. He said that energy ratios for first generation ethanol are too small but that he was thinking about Tennessee and Iowa farmers in his presidential bid, so supporting ethanol then made sense. But now that the subsidy program is in place, Gore said it’s hard to stop when so many lobbies are pushing to keep it going. He made the comments at a green energy business conference in Athens.
