Japan doubles ethanol target for 2017/18

In Japan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Ministry has set an ethanol use requirement for 3.14 million barrels per year oil equivalent by the end of 2017/18, which is more than double what is required today. The figure was determined by establishing the ‘feasibility’ of ethanol availability from countries such as Brazil. The total consumption will come to 800,000 kiloliters per year of ethanol or 2 million kiloliters of ETBE.
