Biofuels policy stability sought in Thailand

In Thailand, the country’s public sector is asking the government to establish clear policies that will ensure there is no competition between food and fuel. As producers move away from molasses as a biofuel feedstock and into other crops like cassava, they want to ensure there will be no conflicts for feedstock in the future. The Thai Chamber of Commerce said businesses also want the ministry to come up with zoning for food and energy crops, promote clusters in the food and farm product industry, and encourage contract farming with privileges offered for those who participate in the program.
