Points are based on total votes received in the subscribers poll and the selectors poll. Votes were weighted so that the selectors and subscribers each represented 50 percent of the overall points. Votes were also weighted for subscribers, depending on the rating they gave to each company in the ballot, ranging from “Cold” to “Red Hot”.

Some close calls. Amyris-Solazyme, separated by 1% in the vote tally. DuPont Danisco, only 6 votes ahead of Novozymes, One point separating Ceres from Cobalt Technologies, 11 points separating Shell, Joule, Qteros and Abengoa Bioenergy. Just 113 points separating Cargill at #36 from Cosan at #41.
