UK may miss deadlines on EU Energy Directive

In the UK, the country risks missing a crucial deadline on Sunday to implement the European Union’s Renewable Energy Directive while it continues to implement its own policies under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation. The government says it is working to align the RTFO sustainability standard with the criteria set out in RED so that all biofuels counted towards targets meet the EU’s sustainability standard. Most other EU member states, except for Germany, are likely to also miss the deadline.
