Indian ethanol blending starts in 14 states; five tates out due to lack of ethanol

In India, three national oil companies have begun blending ethanol in 14 states and 20 will be online by the end of the month. Five of the states expected to participate in the 5% ethanol blending program won’t be able to due to a lack of ethanol availability. It is expected that the three companies will be able to achieve 100% blending in states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka, where local ethanol supply is ample, by September 2011. However, in states which have to depend on ethanol imported from other states, the blending will be partial.
