December 21, 2010 |

In Illinois, Honeywell UOP has been awarded the American Institute of Chemical Engineers 2010 Sustainable Energy Award for its work on biofuels process technology.  The award from AIChE recognizes contributions toward the innovation, sustainability and conservation of energy through the application of chemical engineering.  Honeywell’s UOP was recognized for developing process technology to broaden the range of feedstock options for the creation of biofuels.  Honeywell’s UOP and Eni SpA jointly developed the UOP/Eni Ecofining™ process, which uses hydroprocessing technology to convert non-food natural oils and animal fats to Honeywell Green Diesel™ fuel.  Honeywell states the product is chemically indistinguishable from traditional diesel fuel.
