Agrisys raises $25m for algae biofuels project, expects to break ground this quarter

In Florida, Agrisys has raised more than $25 million from investors for its algae biofuels project, and said that it expected to break ground this quarter on a 1000 acre facility that includes open ponds and a biorefinery facility near Lake Apopka.

The company said that it expects to manufacture fuel oils and Omega-3 rich fish meal. The company, which has partnered with New Mexico’s Center of Excellence for Hazardous Materials Management, said that it hopes to develop a series of 1,000 to 20,000 acre farms throughout the Southeast.
