In California, Pacific Ethanol Inc. resumed production as planned at its 60 million-gallon-a-year ethanol plant in Stockton, resulting in shares soaring 11.9% after the announcement on Tuesday.
The plant had suspended operations in 2009, but was able to restart operations in early December 2010. The facility is now nearing operating capacity and shipping ethanol and corn feed to local markets.
The company also aims to resume operations at its 40 million-gallon-a-year plant in Madera, CA as market conditions improve.
