Thailand raising biodiesel subsidies

January 7, 2011 |

In Thailand, the Government agreed to raise biodiesel subsidies from .35 to .85 baht per liter for B3 biodiesel and to 1.50 baht for B5.  The structure of the subsidy gives .20 baht to the pump price and .30 baht to the service stations.  Without the subsidy, the going rates for B3 diesel would have been 30.29 baht/liter, and 29.89 baht for B5.  The current prices in Greater Bangkok are expected to be 29.99 baht for B3 and 29.59 baht for B5.  The Government changed the subsidy level to keep diesel prices below 30 baht/liter.
