Florida 4,000 acre camelina, kenaf trial planned

In Florida, the South Florida Water Management District—who is responsible for purchasing and managing lands that will lead to Everglades restoration—has agreed to trial energy crop production on district lands until the district has enough money to pay for the restoration projects. A trial area of 4,000 acres is being examined with camelina and kenaf seen as potential feedstocks on the area currently covered by diseased citrus trees.
