UPM looking at France and Finland for next-gen biofuels plant

In Finland, UPM is looking at Rauma, Finland or Strasbourg, France as potential sites to produce 20,000 tons per year of second-generation biodiesel from logging residues, bark and stumps using gasification and “Fischer-Tropsch” processing, with eventual expansion to 200,000 tons. The project is dependent upon receiving EU subsidies.
