Green Plains says US ethanol producers using less corn due to high-quality crop

In Nebraska, Green Plains Renewable Energy says that this year’s corn crop was of such high quality that it will likely take less corn than usual—as much as 150 million bushels less— to produce the same amount of ethanol. Tight global corn reserves have people concerned about the competition of ethanol for corn but lower usage for ethanol could boost US stocks by 20%.
