Chu, Vilsack on communications offensive in wake of State of the Union addess

In Washington, US Energy Secretary Steven Chu and Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack went on the communications offensive in the wake of President Obama’s State of the Union Speech. Chu conducted a town hall meeting in which he discussed the opportunity to end taxpayer subsidies for fossil fuels, create three new Energy Innovation Hubs, put one million advanced technology vehicles on the road by 2015, make solar energy cost-competitive with fossil-based fuels by 2020, and have 80 percent of America’s electricity come from clean sources by 2035.

Secretary Vilsack published an overview of a nationwide biofuels industry and market, including a section on “Developing a Sustainable Biofuels Industry and Market” that covered support for Producers, Commercialization, and Partnerships with Government and Private Industry.
