Green Plains acquires Fergus Falls ethanol plant for $1 per gallon

In Minnesota, Green Plains Renewable Energy has acquired the 55 million gallon per year Fergus Falls ethanol plant for $55 million, which will bring the GPRE total US capacity up to 715 million gallons per year at nine locations in  Nebraska, Iowa, Indiana, Michigan and Tennessee and now Minnesota. The company, which confirmed its status as the fourth-largest ethanol producer behind POET, ADM and Valero. The Fergus Falls plant was formerly owned and operated by Otter Tail Ag Enterprises, which went bankrupt in 2009.
