Scoular buys Gateway Ethanol plant, plans 2011 re-launch

February 22, 2011 |

In Kansas, Scoular Company has bought the mothballed Gateway Ethanol plant in Pratt and a neighboring grain handling facility. The company hopes to have the 55 million gallon per year facility up and running well before the end of the year. On the Union Pacific Railroad, the facility is capable of loading 100-car shuttle trains of grain, dried distillers grains and ethanol.
Within the next two weeks, Scoular will further expand its activity in the renewable fuels marketplace with the opening of a new rail-to-truck ethanol transloading facility in Ogden, Utah.
