Wisconsin crop value rises by 37 percent in 2010: USDA

In Wisconsin, the USDA says says the total value of Wisconsin crops rose by more than $1 billion dollars last year to $4.8 billion, up from $3.5 billion in 2009. More than half of the value came from the state’s corn crop, which was valued at nearly $2.7 billion. The Wisconsin ethanol industry says it has added value to Wisconsin’s corn crop by creating a market for Wisconsin corn with nine large-scale ethanol plants that was once shipped out of state.
