Delft licenses ethanol IP to DSM

March 4, 2011 |

In the Netherlands, Delft University of Technology and the Kluyver Center have licensed their technology for improved ethanol production from agricultural waste to DSM.  The licensing agreement has DSM investing in follow up research.  The license is the result of work that inserted a bacterial gene in yeast that caused higher ethanol production, the elimination of glycerol as a byproduct, and partially converting some of the acetate into ethanol.  DSM’s interest is to gain further production improvements for its second generation biofuels from agricultural waste.
