Kenya scales back jatropha plantation by 80 percent over environmental concerns

In Kenya, the National Environmental Management Agency is only allowing Kenya Jatropha Energy Ltd., 100% owned by Nouve Iniziative Industriali Sri of Italy, to plant jatropha on 10,000 hectares rather than the entire planned 50,000 hectares until the agency has determined the environmental effects of growing jatropha in the local area.
