NZ Government delays on biofuels policy shutting down investment

In New Zealand, the government’s continued dillydallying over whether or not it will extend its biodiesel subsidy for another three years kept Greenstone Energy, which owns Shell’s retail and distribution network in New Zealand from investing millions in Auckland’s Ecodiesel that would have produced biodiesel from beef tallow. Other investors are now prepared to invest the $3.68 million needed to complete the plant but only if the government extends the subsidy.
