Waste-to-biofuels may get preference under new UK mandate rules

In the UK, amendments to the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) proposed by a Department for Transport (DfT) consultation could see waste-derived biofuels eligible for two RTFCs per litre of renewable fuel (or kg of renewable gas). Doing so would bring the RTFO into line with the EU’s Renewable Energy Directive that gives preference to waste-based biofuels.
