Brazil declares ethanol "strategic fuel", transfers oversight to national oil agency,

In Brazil, it seems the government is getting more serious about regulating the ethanol industry in the short-term beyond its current regulations purely on fuel specifications. The president has told the national oil agency to treat ethanol as a “strategic fuel” and no longer as an agricultural commodity in order to stem inflation in the fuel sector.
