Kakira Sugar to invest $100M in Ugandan ethanol, sugar

In Uganda, the Uganda Sugar Cane Technologists Association has reported that three large sugar producers are planning on investing $197 million to diversify their operations and boost capacity.  Kakira Sugar works is reportedly planning on investing $100 million to expand its electricity generation, ethanol and sugar production.

Kakira reports the current plan calls for the expansions and the power plant to be completed by June 2012.  Kinyara Sugar is reportedly planning on investing $70 million to increase  electrical generation to 40MWe.  Sugar Corp, will reportedly spend $27 million in replacing its current mill, plantation machinery and vehicles.
