Lignol completes commercial scale cellulosic ethanol design package

April 22, 2011 |

In Canada, Lignol reports that they have completed an engineering design package for a commercial-scale biorefinery that would produce approximately 20 million US gallons and 55,000 tonnes of High Performance Lignin (HP-LTM lignin) derivatives annually.  The design package was developed with Lignol’s engineering contractor, Pöyry, an engineering and management consulting in the energy and industrial sectors. Lignol states that work for Lignol’s pilot-scale biorefinery are ongoing to refine the design basis and equipment selection needed for scale-up in order to complete an investment grade design and cost estimate for a commercial plant.
