HECO issues new biofuel RFP

May 2, 2011 |

In Hawaii, Hawaiian Electric Company issued an RFP for sustainably produced, renewable biofuel for the Kahe Power Plant in Leeward Oahu. The request for proposals seeks up to 42 million gallons a year, beginning as early as mid-2014.

Hawaiian Electric encourages biofuels from feedstocks originating in Hawaii.  Bidders may propose a combination of local biofuel and feedstock or biofuel originating outside Hawaii.  Multiple contracts may be awarded and potential suppliers who can not supply the full 42 million gallons per year may propose lesser volumes.
