Wipro chair invests $15M with Khosla's Cleantech fund

May 23, 2011 |

In California, Vinod Khosla’s clean-tech fund has received a $15 million investment from Wipro chairman Azim Premji. Although the investment is small relative to the $1.1 billion in start up funds raised by Khosla in 2009, it marks a significant change in investment strategy for Wipro after their establishment of EcoEnergy, a unit focused on clean tech.

Premji Invest cites diversifying Premji’s India-based portfolio as the main goal of the company’s first international investment, as well as the profit potential in US technology companies.
