Netherlands sets biofuels mandates through 2014

June 8, 2011 |

In the Netherlands, the Minister of Infrastructure and Environment has published decrees further outlining how to implement the Renewable Energy Directive including a 4.25% renewable energy in transport mandate for 2011 and 4.5% for 2012, 5% in 2013 and 5.5% in 2014 with targets to be set in 2014 to see how to reach the 10% target for 2020.  The new legislation also includes an automated central register managed by the Netherlands Emission Authority where companies must upload their biofuel blending data twice per year, but it won’t be online until 2013 despite the first reporting due September 1 this year.
