Gaithersburg, MD restarts B5 biodiesel trial

June 21, 2011 |

In Maryland, the City of Gaithersburg has started using biodiesel again in its public works vehicles after pausing the program in 2008 due to clogged filters in the trucks and street sweepers. The new B5 trial has included annual $900 tank cleanings and adding a biocide to the tanks. If all goes well, the city will boost its biodiesel blend to 10%.
