Xylitol skips pilot: commercial scale next up for xylose project

In Canada, Xylitol Canada announced that they will leapfrog their plan for a pilot plant and go directly to commercial-scale plant operations.  Xylitol is in discussions with Mascoma to co-locate a commercial-scale xylose plant adjacent to one of Mascoma’s cellulosic ethanol plants, working together to create a facility to convert wood chips into ethanol and high value co-products such as xylitol.
