High gas prices prompts start of New Jersey biodiesel program

June 30, 2011 |

In New Jersey, the Dept. of Public Works in the city of Norwood has begun producing biodiesel for use in its utility vehicles.  Residents and restaurants will be able to drop off their used cooking oil to be turned into biodiesel, which in turn will help the DPW save between 50% and 75% of its fuel costs. It’s only since oil prices have risen that it became worth the investment and extra hassle for the department to start making its own biodiesel.
