Elevance, Clariant hitch up for renewables development

In Illinois, Elevance Renewable Sciences and Clariant International announced that they have completed an agreement to cooperate within the field of renewable products. The companies are coupling Clariant’s market knowledge and formulation development capabilities with Elevance’s renewable products and patented process technology to commercialize new renewable additives for plastics.

Elevance uses olefin metathesis to create ingredients for use in personal care products, detergents, fuels, lubricants and other specialty chemicals markets. Among Clariant’s subsidiaries, Sud-Chemie, which is developing a cellulosic ethanol project in the EU.
