Microalgae fuel successfully trialed in India

July 18, 2011 |

In India, a regular diesel vehicle was successfully test-driven on B20 biofuel derived from marine microalgae. The car achieved a mileage of 12.4km/ liter, which exceeds the average mileage of the same car run on regular diesel. A coordinator for the study explained the next step of the project, known as New Millennium India Technology Leadership Project (NMITLI), as testing the functionality and economic viability of B100 marine microalgae biodiesel as the researchers develop a scalable, viable process for production.
