Laurels: Dupont is the 6th ranked company in the 2010-11 50 Hottest Companies in Renewable Chemicals poll. Myriant  currently holds down #21.

The match-up: Battle of the renewable chemicals giant, vs a succinic acid upstart. Dupont is invested in Dupont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol (with BP), and recently acquired Danisco (and its subsidiary Genencor) in a $6B transaction this year. Myriant is headed for commercialization of its succinic acid technology right now, and has filed for an IPO.
