The match-up: Fulcrum’s unique waste-to-energy fuels technology has won many admirers, and it is aiming to commercialize with a plant in Nevada as soon as it completes financing. It landed a DOE loan guarantee term sheet which it is seeking to close on by September. Genomatica is a chemicals-centric company with a startlingly interesting fermentation platform, using advanced synthetic biology, and it also fast tracking towards a demonstration of its technology at scale, and a first commercial plant.
