Missouri study identifies SE part of state for algal biofuels

August 18, 2011 |

In Missouri, preliminary results from a feasibility study expected in September show that Bootheel, in the southeast corner of the state, along with a few adjacent counties would be ideal locations to grow algae for biodiesel production due to ample supplies of groundwater reserves and flat land.

MRIGlobal, formerly called Midwest Research Institute, partnered with Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Missouri for a $180,000 grant from the Missouri Technology Corp., to undertake the study.
