Impending Spanish election may delay new curbs on imported biodiesel

August 23, 2011 |

In Spain, the prime minister’s decision to move the upcoming national election to November means further delays to rules that could impose barriers on the importation of biodiesel from Argentina and Indonesia.

Though an order stopping the imports was ready to be enacted by the prime minister, it was postponed until after the election, with reports claiming that the delay was a result of threats from Argentina against Spanish companies there if the law was enacted before October.
