Ethanol industry regulations proposed in Brazil

August 25, 2011 |

In Brazil, the country’s national energy regulator ANP has announced new proposals to regulate the sugarcane-based ethanol industry. Mills will be expected to report annually to ANP their production capacity, production plans, about their sugarcane crop and about their co-generation capacity. The ANP means for mills to keep 120 days worth of production on hand at all times and will also likely adopt rules regarding sales among producers, and between producers and suppliers, distributers and foreign buyers. The regulation is open for public comment until Sept. 12.
